Since 2019, The Equality Project has proudly dedicated itself to improving access to clean water in Sub-Saharan Africa. Recognizing that the lack of clean, filtered water is a critical barrier to the health and well-being of animals, humans, and plants, we have successfully completed four major rainwater capture systems in the region.

Our journey began in Tamale, Ghana, in partnership with the University for Development Studies and Vets Without Borders. Focusing on sustainable community development through best practices in animal husbandry, we understood that clean water is essential for achieving overall community health. With the expertise of local engineers and the support of the university, we constructed our first rainwater harvesting system in the village of Taampie Kukuo. This innovative system provides nearly 200,000 liters of clean water to a community of over 1,500 people, significantly enhancing access to water for drinking, sanitation, agriculture, animal care, and childbirth.

We are committed to expanding our clean water efforts and continuing to support international aid efforts to further The Equality Project's  mission to empower communities, foster resilience, and improve global health one small community at a time.

This Year's Goal

Building on our success with clean water projects, we are launching a new two-year initiative:

  • Chicken Farm Project: We aim to construct a sustainable chicken farm housing 1,000 laying hens. This farm will provide a reliable source of nutrition through eggs and create employment opportunities within the community.

  • Community Social Enterprise: By establishing this farm, we support a social enterprise that empowers local residents, fosters economic growth, and promotes food security.

  • Facility Development: The project includes building living accommodations for the chicken farmer, appropriate housing for the hens, and collaborating with local veterinarians to ensure the health and well-being of the animals.

We have already purchased the land and are ready to commence construction. Funds raised from the Water Cup will directly support the building of these facilities and the implementation of the project.
