OUTREACH, ADVOCACY & PROGRAMMING FOR COMMUNITIES FACING HARDSHIPS

Untitled design (19).png

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." -  Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Equality Project is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, advocacy and wrap-around resources for the homeless and underserved communities in Prince Edward Island. Our team has been providing outreach services and initiatives across PEI since 2021, helping to connect Islanders facing hardships to mental health services, housing, and supports.

Our experienced and compassionate team understands the complex relationships between mental health, economic hardships, and social isolation, and how these challenges can impact homelessness, incarceration rates, and addiction issues in our community.  That is why we emphasize the importance of human connection in healing and recovery, placing personal relationships and consistent support as the cornerstone of our services.

Outreach & Ground Support

For the last five years, The Equality Project has partnered with the University for Development Studies and Vets without Borders to support community development efforts in Sub-Saharan Africa.

With the aid of the University and local engineers we constructed our first rainwater system in Taampie, Kukuo in 2019 and have since completed 4 rainwater capture systems capable of providing 200,000 liters of clean water to struggling communities.

Background

The reflective writing program really challenged me and helped me to understand and accept my circumstances in a way that I'd been fighting. Thank you for asking the tough questions and helping me to get out of the stuck place I was in.

Sarah H.

I came across Mikey's profile during a really difficult period in my relationship and was feeling really lost and hopeless. He quickly made me feel less ashamed and embarrassed and helped me find the tools to navigate my situation with more open honesty.

Jesse N.

Throughout our sessions, Mikey consistently created a safe space for introspection, and I wholeheartedly appreciated his insights, gentle guidance, and encouragement.
